The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics, Cyber Kyoto Laboratory (CKL), responsible for managing and operating ".kyoto," collaborated with Imatrix Co., Ltd. (Western Japan Office: Kyoto City), a company engaged in the development and sale of information security products, and Dehenken Co., Ltd. (Headquarters:Kyoto City), which specializes in text processing technology, on an industry-academia collaboration project. The results of this project were featured in the Kyoto Shimbun (Kyoto Newspaper). This project aimed to develop new information security technology for businesses and was supported by Kyoto Prefecture and the Kyoto Sangyo 21 Public Interest Foundation for regional industry development, as part of their industry-academia collaboration.
CKL and the two companies jointly developed the "Kyoto Security" system, which aims to prevent damage caused by phishing websites at the source. This innovative technology blocks connections when users are about to be directed to malicious websites and offers the advantage of not requiring installation of dedicated software. With the increasing concerns about information security due to the recent rise in cybercrimes, Kyoto Shimbun featured CKL project results on September 9, 2017, allowing them to reach a wider audience.
