About Cyber Kyoto Laboratory

The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics (KCGI) develops projects utilizing the geographically named top-level domain “.kyoto.” KCGI also runs the “Cyber Kyoto Laboratory,” which uses e-learning to promote global cooperative higher education under the theme of building “Open University Kyoto.” The decision to open the Kyoto Prefecture-operated facility for scientific studies—“Keihanna Open Innovation Center” (KICK)—in the former My Work building of Seika–Kizugawa was authorized in the prefecture’s research base utilization plan for the center.

Cyber Kyoto Laboratory

From April 2014, the prefecture changed the name of the former My Work building over which it had attained title and was soliciting would-be occupants (research institutions and scientific study facilities) for suitable project plans. KCGI’s plan was recognized as No. 1. Highly rated by the prefecture was Cyber Kyoto Laboratory’s plan for “anticipating the dissemination of ICT and education-related R&D from Kyoto to the world.”
